HELLSTROM-BANGS' SWEDISH LEAGUE BAN HALVED

Swedish racer Philip Hellstrom-Bangs has seen his Bauhaus Elitserien suspension halved, according to Rospiggarna.

A one-month penalty was originally imposed by Swedish governing body SVEMO, ruling the former SGP2 star out for the month of May after he was punished in relation to an incident that took place at Masarna’s Swedish Allsvenskan League semi-final on August 21.

But the original penalty was halved following an appeal to the Swedish Sports Committee. As a result, the suspension will now run from May 1-15.

This means the former SON2 silver medallist only misses Rospiggarna’s opening match away to Lejonen on May 12, with the Hallstavik club not due to race on the league’s opening night.

Club manager Alexander Edberg commented:

“We have strongly distanced ourselves from the incident but welcome the fact that the suspension has been halved, which feels much more reasonable given the proportion of the incident.”
